I have several bits of lovely news at this time. Happy dance!
Quake, a division of Echelon Press, has published the first in a series of ebooks about of the experiences my coauthor Bill Howe enjoyed during his 38 year policing career. These humorous tales provide a "reading ride-along" for middle grade students.
These stories will be available every two months, beginning January 2012. Each contains two stories. To read Bill's bio, click on the Juvenile tab above.
Full descriptions of these stories are on the Cuffed tab. Check them out wherever ebooks are sold!
Bill has been invited to present a two hour hands-on seminar about fingerprinting at the Love Is Murder mystery conference in February, 2012, and I'm going to help. We've been preparing for this for a while. Bill has his presentation done, along with a handout detailing important info about fingerprints from a writer's point of view.
After his lecture, we'll have a separate room filled with stations where attendees can try some techniques for themselves. Two other officer/writers, Michael A. Black and David Case, are going to help staff this room. Attendees can print each other on ten print cards, lift prints from bottles, superglue prints off baggies, and do other messy activities. Should be fun!
Bill Howe and I have begun blogging at howerorhus.blogspot.com. We aren't super diligent about it, but hey, it's new.
Untreed Reads has published my short story "Cereal Killer" as an electronic book in November, 2011. Here's their description:
Elizabeth Hart enjoys her high-powered job and her lakeside home but is tired of Officer Andrew Baird's hands-off policy. A mere ten year age gap is no reason for refusing romance, is it?
As Andrew searches for the motive behind a young woman's death, Elizabeth carefully plots her revenge against the handsome man who treats her as a younger sister. By using Andrew's penchant for practical jokes against him, she learns how to pursue truth, justice, and the handsome cop next door.
A romantic mystery short from our Fingerprints line.
